Funded CYP practitioner courses

 

Halton Health Improvement Team have a limited number of funded places on Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) accredited training, leading to level 2 qualifications. The funded places are available to practitioners working with children and families in Halton. There are also funded places for young people aged 14-24 years to gain an RSPH accredited qualification.

 

  • RSPH L2 Encouraging a Healthy Weight and Healthy Eating (1/2-day course) 

    This qualification is for individuals with an interest in health who are interested in helping others develop a healthier lifestyle by encouraging healthy eating for a healthy weight. Learners will increase knowledge of why individuals may not be a healthy weight, the effects on health, principles of healthy eating and how to support and signpost.We have 25 funded places for this course.
    Available date:

    28 September 9am – 12.30pm Kingsway Library, Widnes (25 places available)

    This training can also be delivered to individual teams – email to discuss your requirements.

 

  • RSPH L2 Understanding Health Improvement (1-day course) 

    This qualification provides candidates with an understanding of the principles of promoting health and wellbeing and enable them to direct individuals towards further practical support in their efforts to attain a healthier lifestyle. It covers examples of inequalities in health, their possible causes and current approaches to tackling these inequalities. It covers key principles around behaviour change techniques, how to have a health improvement conversation and how to support someone to make changes. Includes lifestyle topics such as smoking, alcohol, healthy eating, physical activity, sexual health and mental health.We have 100 funded places for this course.
    Available dates:

    20 June Runcorn Town Hall 9am – 4.30pm (7 places remaining)
    29 September Kingsway Library, Widnes 9am – 4.30pm (25 places available)

  • RSPH Level 2 Award for Young Health Champions (Total qualification time: 36 hours) 

    The Young Health Champions programme is a guided-learning programme which leads to a qualification – RSPH Level 2 Award for Young Health Champions. The programme is for young people between the ages of 14 – 24 years who want to help their peers develop a healthier lifestyle and make their voice heard around health and wellbeing issues.We have 80 funded places for young people to complete the full award, which will include the modules ‘Encouraging Physical Activity’ and ‘Encouraging a Healthy Weight and Healthy Eating’.

    This training will be delivered within your setting with a chosen group of participants. Dates to be negotiated to fit with your group. Email to register your interest.

Delivered by Jonathan Smart, Senior HMI, maintained schools and academies

Jonathan Smart is assistant regional director for the North West and a member of the quality assurance team. He inspects a range of provision, including primary, secondary, special and independent schools and also regularly leads initial teacher education inspections. Before working for Ofsted, he gained extensive senior leadership experience across a number of educational organisations and also had experience working outside of education. Jonathan was a headteacher and executive headteacher of 2 schools in challenging circumstances. He has particular expertise in leadership, curriculum, and teaching and learning.

EYFS Transition Summer Workshop – Assessment & Moderation

Audience – All Nurseries, Childminders and School Settings

This event is to allow all EYFS settings to meet and share assessment and moderation information with their transition partners. This was asked for by attendees at the previous workshops in Autumn and Spring.

On the day there will be opportunities to share practice of Assessment and Moderation between settings and individual assessment data of pupils moving settings.
