Thrive Approach Training

We have had an overwhelming request response to this Free element of the offer with now over 60% of settings booked on to start training – some have already now completed it and are ready to roll it out across school this term. Thank you for your proactive response to this.

If you are yet to sign up for the training or still need further help, please contact:  jennie.hogan@thriveapproach.com She is our dedicated co-ordinator for Halton. This is a major investment of £300,000 for Halton. Our EP, EYFS, Virtual School, Post-16 and Specialist Teacher teams are also taking up the training to ensure we can all support the rollout in the coming year.

Free TEAM Teach Training

Again we have seen a huge number of requests for our free TEAM Teach Training. We have managed to already train some settings in the previous term, with many more booked in for Autumn. Due to this response we are now training additional TEAM TEACH Trainers – our Educational Psychology Service. In the coming weeks we will have a team of 10 trained to roll out this area of need to all settings.

In addition to this we will be putting FREE Team Teach Behavior Workshops in Autumn for 100 delegate’s (date to be announced). We encourage settings to send all staff were possible to these as they will take about language used,  de-escalation and legalities around dealing with behaviour. Please contact mike.stapleton-chambers@halton.gov.uk if you would like further information on how to arrange whole school TEAM TEACH Training or to book places of the workshops.

Other workstreams for the DBV Project are currently being planned and we will update you further with any other events. We will also as part of this program be working with individual schools to support them with SEND related activities. Please feel free to contact Mike with any questions or take a look at further information on the Local Offer Delivering Better Value (DBV) in SEND | Local Offer (haltonchildrenstrust.co.uk)

Wraparound Childcare

WRAPAROUND CHILDCARE EXPANSION IN HALTON: Good News from the DfE!

Early in August 2024, local authority wraparound childcare teams received confirmation from DfE that the Wraparound Expansion Programme is to continue, and that Halton’s Delivery Plan for 2024-2025 has been approved.

All schools and settings in Halton have been advised that the DfE programme is to continue.  Our local authority plans are to proceed with our expansion programme at pace to ensure there are sufficient wraparound places to meet demand as soon as possible.

We are proceeding at pace with Halton’s wraparound childcare expansion programme and have organised a series of online briefings next week (hopefully designed to suit a range of needs).

Please book on to access the briefings for the following stages: of expansion:

Grant Funding Application form:

Wraparound Childcare Expansion: Opportunity to find out more about the grant funding process, talk through the Grant Funding Application form and find out how/when funding will be allocated.

If you haven’t yet considered wraparound childcare expansion and haven’t explored DfE grant funding options, it’s not too late!

General queries and opportunity to discuss expansion plans in your setting:

Our aim is to encourage schools & settings to continue with their own expansion plans, which need to be rolled out as soon as possible.  The front-loading of places with LA funding is hoped to encourage increased demand from parents.

Please do get in touch, or book on a briefing to find out more about this exciting initiative!

Please contact Clare, (clare.rowlands@halton.gov.uk) or Hazel (hazel.fryman@halton.gov.uk) if you would like to discuss  your expansion plans.

Advice for parents/carers emotional support for children and young people

The attached documents were created previously to help support parents and carers to navigate mental health support available to them when they begin to have initial worries helping them to access early support (the document doesn’t contain details of more specialist support available such as CAMHS and Educational psychology due to the focus on prevention)

The documents also gently highlight what children and young people need to be emotionally healthy to help empower parents/carers to reflect on changes and tweaks they can make themselves to support their child’s emotional health

The documents are refreshed each September
