Young Carers Awareness Day

Applies to-All Schools

Young Carers Awareness Day is organised annually by Carers Trust to highlight the pressures and challenges experienced daily by young people as a result of caring for a member of their family.

This year, Young Carers Awareness Day is on 31 January.

Being a young carer is a risk factor for young people’s mental health, so the focus for the day this year will be on how the pressures of caring can lead to many young carers experiencing problems with their mental health.

We are getting in touch to ask your school to get involved with Young Carers Awareness Day 2019!

Download our pack for schools, colleges and universities, containing:

  • Suggestions for what you can do to mark the day
  • Ideas for lessons you can deliver with your class to improve their understanding of young carers and mental health and wellbeing
  • Printable resources such as posters and infographics to brighten up your classroom
  • How you can support Young Carers Awareness Day on social media

If you run a group for young carers within your school or college:

You might be interested in our campaign pack for young carer and young adult carer services. This pack contains activity suggestions designed to get young carers to thinking and speaking up about their mental health needs.
