Complex Case Discussion Process
Applies to-All Schools

Halton has created a reflective group discussion model for our Child Protection cases where the child’s life is not improving after a period of 9 months. This coincides with the second child protection review. At this point the Conference Chair will discuss within the review the need to request a Complex Case discussion. Partner agencies will be asked to complete a reflective statement outlining what is working well for the child and their family and what needs to happen to improve the child’s life/reduce risk factors. This will enable partner agencies to be virtually represented during the Complex Case discussion.

The Divisional Manager for Child In Need/Child Protection will chair the meeting and take account of partners’ contributions when detailing the plan for the child and their family. This will be a reflective, creative discussion which will look at and explore alternative approaches with the family; it will offer support as well as professional challenge and enable senior management oversight in a timely manner.  The outcome of this discussion will be given as feedback to partner agencies via Halton’s Safeguarding Unit.

A short summary of these discussions will be shared at 6 monthly intervals with Halton’s senior leadership team who will review the effectiveness of the process.

Terms of Reference and supporting paperwork for the Complex Case discussion process can be found on the Procedures page of the HSCB website:  http://children.haltonsafeguarding.co.uk/procedures-guidance/

Local Cultural Education Partnership

Below is the link to a survey for Halton Local Cultural Education Partnership (LCEP), supported by Curious Minds. The partnership includes a range of local cultural organisations and schools, including Norton Priory Museum Trust, Halton Libraries, Widnes Academy and The Heath School.

The LCEP are undertaking a survey of creative activity in schools, in order to understand the local picture and create a better, joined up offer for children and young people in Halton.  The survey only takes 5 minutes to complete and as an added incentive, the LCEP are offering a chance to win a free half day workshop in music or drama, for a single class, led by professional practitioners. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/92R3RTW you have until 30 April to complete the survey.
