School Model CCTV Policy

I have recently been asked  by a number of Headteacher’s to provide updated guidance regarding the use of CCTV at schools and to provide a School Model CCTV Policy template that meets GDPR requirements. Please refer to the attached

I would advise schools if its relevant  to take the policy to the school’s next governing body meeting for adoption.

CyberFirst Girls Competition 2019

Applies to-All Secondary schools

My name is Sophie and I am a member of the communications team at the NCSC, a part of GCHQ. I am looking to raise awareness of one of our initiatives, the CyberFirst Girls Competition 2019, registration for which opens on Monday 10 December 2018.

  • Over the past two years, 12,500 girls in schools across the UK have participated in our annual competition of problem-solving and code cracking challenges to crown the UK’s most cyber-capable young women.
  • The exciting competition is for girls in Year 8 in England and Wales, S2 in Scotland and Year 9 in Northern Ireland (12-13yrs of age). This age group has been deliberately chosen to give as many girls as possible the opportunity to find out more about cyber security with a view to potentially influencing the subjects they choose at GCSE. Only 11% of the global cyber workforce is made of women, so our ultimate aim is to inspire the girls into a career in cyber security.
  • Teachers, of any subject, can get involved and enter a team of girls. No prior specialist IT knowledge is required. Schools may enter as many teams as they wish.
  • The competition’s Grand Final will be taking place in Edinburgh on 24-25 March 2019.

With this in mind, I wanted to ask whether Halton local education authority would be able to support this initiative and raise awareness amongst local schools. This could be by including a piece in your newsletter or ebulletin, for example. We also have a host of marketing materials available that we could share with you, from posters and flyers, to an information pack, to social media assets.

I would be delighted to discuss this further with you and provide further information. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
