Using Manipulatives (concreate resources) training

 

Dear Colleagues,

NWLP would like to invite ALL primary schools across the NW Region the chance to attend the ‘Effective use of manipulatives’ maths training session: attached CPD brochure

Focus:

This Session is for all teachers exploring how to use manipulatives effectively, selecting the most appropriate models and images for a range of tasks to include Numicon, bar modelling etc…

This training includes two half day sessions with a classroom based ‘gap task’ in between sessions.

Session 1

Tuesday 19th October

Key Stage 1- (Years 1 and 2 teachers) 9:00-12:00

Key Stage 2- (Years 3,4,5 and 6 teachers) 1:00-4:00

Interim school-based task (trial materials/activities suggested at the initial session)

Session 2

Tuesday 7th December

Key Stage 1- (Years 1 and 2 teachers) 9:00-12:00

Key Stage 2- (Years 3,4,5 and 6 teachers) 1:00-4:00

Delegates MUST book onto BOTH sessions

Venue: Mercure St Helens Hotel, Linkway W, Saint Helens WA10 1NG

There are limited spaces on this programme. Spaces will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.

Cost: For 2 half day sessions (plus gap task resources) including all materials, and refreshments total cost is: £100.00

EAL training

 

The attached flyers provide information on the next round of training for setting/school staff working with children, young people and families with English as an additional language. The training will be delivered online by our commissioned service provider (MEAS – Minority Ethnic Achievement Service, Wirral Council) and is free of charge.

The training programmes comprise:

  • School of Sanctuary Award Online – the benefits of becoming a School of Sanctuary and how to achieve the award.
  • Assessing Pupils Learning English as an Additional Language – understanding expected progress for EAL acquisition; developing awareness of EAL proficiency levels and materials to support effective assessment; experiencing a modelled EAL assessment with suggested next steps.
  • Welcoming BME families into school – for frontline/office staff and other support staff who come into contact with EAL/BME families and children.

Islam CPD Training for Primary Schools

 

FAO Religious Education Coordinators, Heads of Re and Teachers of RE

 

Imran Kotwal from the Muslim Learner Services will be running the following Teaching and Learning CPD training sessions during the Autumn Term.

All sessions are delivered live remotely and video recordings are also available for all sessions. Dates and times of all the training courses can be found on the link at the bottom of this email.
