Take part in the Take 10 Challenge on Friday 8 October
Ahead of World Mental Health Day, #Take10ToRead
On Friday 8 October 2021, we are inviting schools across the country to join us for our #Take10ToRead wellbeing challenge. Reading for just 10 minutes a day can help children and young people relax, unwind and explore their emotions, so we’re encouraging everyone to Take 10 minutes at 10am to read something they enjoy. Tom Percival and Louisa Reid will be launching the challenge in primary and secondary schools respectively.
Maths and English through Geography training
The North West Learning Partnership would like to offer all Primary Schools the chance to attend the following Geography training session: Maths and English through Geography
Focus:
How geography can provide meaningful context for, support engagement in and provide opportunities for real world application of literacy and numeracy skills and knowledge. Adopting a mindset that is looking to broaden rather than narrow the curriculum.
Target audience: Teachers and Leaders at all levels
Facilitator: Jon Cannell – Geographical association
To take place on: Thursday 7th October 2021 9.30-3.30pm
Venue: Mercure St Helens Hotel, Linkway West, St Helens, WA10 1NG
Cost: £150.00, Full day session with light lunch, refreshments and all course materials.

Developing a culture of Supervision online session
The North West Learning Partnership would like to offer ALL schools and external agencies the chance to attend the following training: Developing a culture of Supervision
To take place on: Monday 27th September 2021 9.30am-3pm
Venue: ONLINE
Target audience: Senior Leaders with a strategic responsibility for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Designated Safeguarding Leads
Focus:
This workshop will enable senior leaders to develop and implement a culture of supervision throughout their school/organisation. Using research and evidence-based approaches the course will include strategies for culture development as well as how to create an action plan for implementation within a school/education provider.
This programme will support learners to:
• Develop an understanding of what Supervision is and de-mystify what supervision isn’t
• Develop an understanding of the process of supervision and how it works during and in between sessions
• Develop an understanding of who will benefit from receiving supervision
• Develop an understanding of what impact supervision can have on the whole school as well as the individual
• Develop an understanding of ethical practice and supervisionDevelop an action plan to implement a supervision strategy at your school/organisation which include:
> Leadership & Strategy
> Organisational Structure & Culture – Staff
> Organisational Structure & Culture – Pupils
> Support for Staff
> Professional Learning & Development
> Support for Pupils
> Working with Parents & Carers
> Working With External Services

The National Emergencies Trust has launched a £1.2m Local Action Fund with Crowdfunder UK to help voluntary and community organisations overcome the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The fund offers support to organisations including UK charities, CIC’s, churches and other religious organisations by helping them to counter financial challenges created by the pandemic, including the inability to fundraise in the usual ways, reductions in staff and volunteers, and increased demand on their services. Up to £10,000 in match-funding is available to either launch new local initiatives or to enable them to continue existing services. Eligible services include: health and wellbeing services; services addressing food poverty; and community response coordination. |
