Strengthen your cyber security

We have had a recent spate of ransomware attacks both across the region and now expanding nationally that have been specifically targeted the education sector (all levels). The ransomware itself is capable of encrypting data AND backups kept on the network.

#HaltonReads Festival

The #HaltonReads Festival.  16th – 27th November 2020.

We want to share the love of reading across Halton, especially encouraging children who have maybe let their reading drop during lock down.  The main activities of the festival are as follows:

  • We will be hosting author sessions each day on YouTube, we have sessions suitable for pre-school to KS3.
  • We’re aiming for a reading minute count for the borough of half a million minutes
  • We want to get #HaltonReads trending on twitter.

If you want more information please contact Nicola.lamb@halton.gov.uk

Halton SACRE Annual Return

Applies to: ALL Primary and Secondary maintained and faith schools and Primary and Secondary academies and free schools

FAO: Religious Education Coordinators and Leaders and Headteachers in all schools

The SACRE Annual Report to DfE, NASACRE and Halton Borough Council Elected Members is a statutory requirement. To reflect the provision of RE and Collective worship there is an expectation from Halton SACRE that ALL schools complete the annual return within the time period in order to present an accurate picture across the whole borough. Halton SACRE and elected members on the committee are keen to ensure that all schools submit an annual return to both ensure statutory requirements are being met, as well as to further understand the strengths and areas for development for RE teaching and Learning in Halton.

In light of the impact of COVID – 19, especially during the summer term the SACRE is keen to explore the impact lockdown, remote learning and autumn term returns to school have had on teaching and learning in RE and on collective worship. Your school’s responses to Q9 will help form a picture of strengths and ways further support can be provided into the future. The SACRE is also very aware that some responses will reflect the ‘planned for’ academic year, prior to lockdown.

Please return the completed form to Carole Furbank, Clerk to SACRE, no later than Monday 14th December 2020, at carole.furbank@halton.gov.uk

If you have any queries or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact Carole Furbank (Clerk to SACRE) or Mark Higginbottom (LA Adviser to SACRE).
